Written by Nina Moreno • Last checked: 9 October 2026. Australians can play real-money online blackjack only at offshore casinos, because the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 bars operators from offering online casino games here. The catch sits in the bonus terms. On 9 October 2026 we read three sets: SkyCrown counts blackjack at 10% toward wagering, Ignition counts standard blackjack at 10% and live dealer and single-deck games at 0%, and Ozwin excludes blackjack from its free bonuses. This page covers live dealer against RNG tables and their limits, how the rules change the house edge, a basic strategy summary, the bonus arithmetic, payments, and seven FAQs.
18+ only. Every casino named on this page is an offshore operator. Under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 none of them is licensed to serve Australians, and no local regulator will hear a dispute. Is online blackjack legal in Australia in October 2026?
No Australian licence exists for online blackjack, so every site that offers it to you is offshore. ACMA says the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 makes it illegal for gambling providers to offer some online services to people in Australia, and online casinos are on the banned list. ACMA describes the offence as the provider’s, and we found no penalty in the Act that targets the player, but we are not lawyers and state rules differ.
Legal for you is not the same as protected. A Curaçao or similar licence gives you no Australian dispute body, and domains get blocked and move. Our guides to the Interactive Gambling Act and online gambling laws in Australia cover the detail. Parliament also passed the Gambling Reform Bill on 19 August 2026, with most rules starting 1 January 2027, including a ban on affiliate commissions tied to customer activity. We are an affiliate of SkyCrown and Ozwin, so weigh our casino mentions accordingly.
Which live dealer and RNG blackjack tables can Australians reach?
At the casinos we read, Ignition publishes the clearest table limits, and SkyCrown runs Evolution live tables whose limits show only inside the lobby. Live dealer means a studio dealer streamed in real time; RNG means software deals the cards and the game runs at your pace.
| Casino | Blackjack offered | Limits (per hand) |
|---|---|---|
| Ignition | 46 live tables, RNG standard, double and single deck | Live $15 to $1,000, $25 to $10,000; VIP $200 to $50,000; RNG $0.10 to $500 |
| SkyCrown | Evolution live tables; RNG not itemised | Not published outside the lobby |
| Ozwin | RNG blackjack named in its terms; live not confirmed | Not published |
| Joe Fortune | Live blackjack, roulette, baccarat, Super 6 (our 2 Oct review) | Not checked |
Ignition’s live page lists 46 blackjack tables, labelled Gold Tier Gaming, at $15 to $1,000 and $25 to $10,000, plus a VIP table at $200 to $50,000. Its blackjack rules article lists a $1 to $500 range, a dealer who hits soft 17 and surrender on any first two cards, one RNG game page shows a $0.10 minimum, and its double-deck game runs $1 to $250. SkyCrown’s live games come from Evolution, per our review. PokerTube says SkyCrown has 90 live blackjack tables, but we could not confirm the count or the limits, so open the lobby and read the limit on each table before you sit.

Which Evolution and Pragmatic Live blackjack variants should you know?
Evolution’s catalogue is the one most offshore casinos use for live blackjack, and its variants differ in seats, side bets and pace. We checked Evolution’s own game pages on 9 October 2026. Whether a given casino carries each one is a separate question, which only its lobby answers.
We could not confirm Pragmatic Live blackjack at SkyCrown, Ozwin or Ignition. PokerTube lists Pragmatic tables at Wild Tokyo, which we have not reviewed here. Evolution runs a free-play demo site, subject to jurisdiction, if you want to see a table before you stake anything.
- Classic: seven seats, bet behind when seats are full, and optional 21+3 and Perfect Pairs side bets.
- Infinite: unlimited players share one starting hand, with low limits, four side bets and a Six Card Charlie rule.
- Lightning: random multipliers of 2x to 25x on winning scores, and Evolution’s page says it charges a Lightning fee on each initial bet.
- VIP and Salon Privé: higher maximum bets, with Salon Privé subject to minimum bankroll requirements.
- First Person: RNG blackjack with five hands per round and a button to switch to a live table.
What is the house edge in online blackjack, and which rules matter?
With sound rules and perfect basic strategy the house keeps roughly half a percent, and a few rule changes can multiply that. Wizard of Odds puts an infinite-deck game where the dealer stands on soft 17 and doubling after a split is allowed at 0.51% in the dealer’s favour. Real shoe games land near that figure when the payout is 3 to 2.
| Rule | Effect on your return |
|---|---|
| Blackjack pays 6 to 5 | -1.39% |
| Blackjack pays 7 to 5 | -0.45% |
| Dealer hits soft 17 | -0.22% |
| No double after split | -0.14% |
| European no hole card | -0.11% |
| No resplit | -0.10% |
| Late surrender against ten | +0.07% |
| Six decks instead of eight | +0.02% |
| Double deck | +0.19% |
| Single deck | +0.48% |
The table shows how single rules move your return against an eight-deck, dealer-stands-on-soft-17 baseline, from Wizard of Odds’ rule variations page updated 3 August 2026. The biggest trap is the payout. A live table that pays 6 to 5 for a blackjack costs 1.39%, more than double the whole baseline edge, so read the table label. Side bets such as 21+3 and Perfect Pairs carry higher house edges than the main hand, and we did not recompute them.
What is basic strategy for online blackjack?
Basic strategy is the set of hit, stand, double and split decisions that gives the lowest house edge for a given set of rules. The core rules hold at almost every table: always split aces and eights, never split tens or fives, stand on hard 17 or more, and hit hard totals of 8 or less.
For the middle totals, stand on 12 to 16 when the dealer shows 2 to 6, except hit 12 against a 2 or 3, and hit 12 to 16 against a 7 or higher. Double 10 against a dealer 2 to 9, and double 11 against everything except an ace unless the dealer hits soft 17. Decline insurance and the side bets. Soft hands, which contain an ace counted as 11, follow different rules: stand on soft 19 or more, hit soft 17 or less unless a double applies, and treat soft 18 with care: stand against a 7 or 8 and hit against a 9, 10 or ace, with the 2 to 6 cases depending on whether doubling is allowed. Our full chart is on basic strategy in blackjack, which covers soft hands and pairs.
Strategy cannot beat the edge, and it applies only to the main bet. At Ignition’s soft-17-hits table the baseline edge is already 0.22% worse than a stand-on-soft-17 game, so no chart rescues a bad rule set. Treat strategy as a way to lose slowly, not a way to win.
Does blackjack count towards casino bonus wagering?
Barely, and sometimes not at all. We read the bonus terms at three casinos on 9 October 2026, and none counts blackjack at more than 10%.
| Casino | Blackjack toward wagering | Where we read it |
|---|---|---|
| SkyCrown | Live and table games 10%; video poker 0% | Bonus terms, rule 29 |
| Ignition | Blackjack 10%; double deck 2%; single deck and live 0% | Bonus terms table |
| Ozwin | Excluded on free bonuses; deposit-bonus weighting not itemised | Promo terms, rule 5 |
SkyCrown’s bonus terms say slot bets count 100% and live casino and table game bets count 10%, while video poker does not count. Ignition’s table lists blackjack and Reels and Wheels XL at 10%, double deck at 2%, and single deck blackjack and live dealer games at 0%. Ozwin’s promotional terms say wagering on all types of blackjack, video poker and other table games will not count toward free-bonus wagering, and that playing an excluded game can void winnings. Ignition also lists wagering on 0% games as prohibited play.
The arithmetic decides it. SkyCrown’s first-deposit terms run 40x the bonus, with a maximum bet of A$7.50 while wagering. On a A$100 bonus that is A$4,000 of weighted wagering. At 10%, you would need A$40,000 of blackjack bets to clear it, which is 4,000 hands at A$10. At a 0.5% edge, those hands cost about A$200 in expected losses, double the bonus. Take the match for pokies, or skip it for blackjack.
One SkyCrown promotion suits live play better. Its 10% Weekly Live Cashback is paid on net live-game losses in fiat, as real money with no wagering. You need at least four lifetime deposits, a deposit of A$45 or more that week and a net loss of A$150 or more. The payout runs from A$15 to A$1,500. Crypto players are not eligible. Cashback is a rebate on losing, not a reason to play.
If blackjack is your game, the cleaner route is to decline the match when you deposit, or to look at offers without wagering. Our no wagering casino page lists some, and our bonuses index has the current codes. Claiming a bonus and then playing an excluded game is how players lose winnings to a terms clause they never read.
The Two Offers We Keep Verified
These are the two operators whose terms we re-read every month. Codes, wagering and cashout caps below were checked on 9 October 2026. Full write-ups: SkyCrown review and Ozwin review.

| SkyCrown Multi-provider lobby | 20 free spins, no deposit · code 20SKCR · 30x | Play at SkyCrown |
| Ozwin RTG pokies | A$20 free chip, no deposit · code OW20FREE · 40x | Play at Ozwin |
How do deposits and withdrawals work for blackjack players?
Cards and crypto fund all three casinos, withdrawals lean on crypto, and each has a payment rule that interacts with bonuses. PayID was not listed on the banking pages we read, so our PayID casino, Neosurf casinos and fastest payout casinos pages cover those routes.
| Casino | Deposit | Withdrawal |
|---|---|---|
| SkyCrown | Cards, vouchers, e-wallets, crypto; AUD | Not itemised in the terms we read |
| Ignition | Cards $20 to $1,500; crypto to $5,000 | Crypto, voucher, MatchPay; BTC min $100 |
| Ozwin | Neosurf, Bitcoin, Lightning, Visa, Mastercard, eZeeWallet, CashtoCode | Up to A$7,500 a week; 1x deposit playthrough |
SkyCrown excludes crypto deposits from its welcome offers, and Skrill and Neteller deposits cannot claim welcome bonuses. Ignition takes cards from $20 to $1,500 and crypto to $5,000 per transaction, and pays crypto, voucher and MatchPay withdrawals; the Bitcoin minimum is $100. Ozwin’s terms require you to wager each deposit once before cashing out or face a 15% administration fee, and cap withdrawals at A$7,500 a week. Our crypto casinos guide covers the coin options.
How do you pick a live blackjack table?
Read four things on the table label before you sit: the payout, the number of decks, the soft 17 rule and the limits. A table that pays 3 to 2 and stands on soft 17 is worth more to you than one with flashier graphics, and the label usually tells you before you stake a cent.
Speed variants shorten the decision timer and add hands per hour, which raises your losses at the same edge. Infinite and similar tables let everyone share one starting hand, so crowded seats are not an obstacle. Side bets are the part of the screen designed to catch your eye, and they cost more per bet than the main hand.
- Look for 3 to 2 on a natural blackjack, not 6 to 5.
- Prefer dealer stands on soft 17 where the lobby offers both.
- Check the minimum and maximum bet for your bankroll.
- Skip side bets unless you accept the higher cost.
- Note whether the table counts for your bonus at all.
How much should you bring to a blackjack table?
Enough to survive the minimum bet for a few dozen hands, and no more than you can lose. A$200 covers about 13 hands at Ignition’s $15 live minimum before any doubles or splits, 8 hands at the $25 tables and 200 hands at a $1 RNG table, ignoring the exchange rate. Fewer hands means more variance, which is not the same as better odds.
Set a loss limit before the first hand and stop when it is gone. No betting system changes the house edge, and chasing a loss with bigger bets is how a A$200 session becomes a A$2,000 one. Use the deposit limits and self-exclusion tools a site offers, and check the table limit label before you click a seat.
Do you pay tax on blackjack winnings in Australia?
For a recreational player, winnings are generally not taxed as income in Australia, and the position changes if you gamble as a business. Our gambling tax guide covers it. If you deposit and withdraw crypto, keep the Australian-dollar value of each transaction, because converting or spending coins can be a capital gains event. Ask a registered tax agent about your own case.
How We Checked
We read SkyCrown’s bonus terms, Ozwin’s terms and conditions, and Ignition’s bonus, live dealer and banking pages on 9 October 2026, plus Evolution’s game pages and Wizard of Odds’ rule variations page. We did not open accounts, deposit or play, so table availability, stream quality and payout speed are not tested. Figures marked as reported by another site are theirs, not ours. We rescore when terms change.
FAQ
Is online blackjack legal in Australia?
Offering it to people in Australia breaches the Interactive Gambling Act 2001, and no Australian licence exists. ACMA describes the offence as the provider’s, but offshore sites give you no local dispute body.
Is live dealer or RNG blackjack fairer?
Both can be fair when the game is audited. The practical differences are pace, limits and bonus weighting: at Ignition live dealer games count 0% toward wagering, while standard RNG blackjack counts 10%.
Does blackjack count toward bonus wagering?
Rarely in full. SkyCrown counts table games at 10%, Ignition counts standard blackjack at 10% and single deck at 0%, and Ozwin excludes blackjack from free-bonus wagering. Check the terms before you place a bet.
What is the minimum bet in online blackjack?
It varies by table. Ignition lists live tables from $15 and a $0.10 minimum on one RNG game, and SkyCrown shows limits only inside its lobby. Read each table label before you play.
What is the house edge in online blackjack?
Roughly 0.5% with 3 to 2 payouts and perfect basic strategy, per Wizard of Odds figures. A 6 to 5 payout adds 1.39%, and a dealer hitting soft 17 adds 0.22%.
Can I play online blackjack for free?
Evolution runs a free-play demo site for its games, subject to jurisdiction. Many casinos also offer demo or practice modes on RNG tables, but check each lobby.
Should I take insurance in online blackjack?
No. Basic strategy says to decline it. Ignition’s rules show insurance paying 2 to 1, but it is a side bet that costs you over time.
