Lucky Days is our free astrology corner. Every Sunday we work out the week ahead for all 12 star signs from real planet positions, then mark each day as a Play day, a Light play day or a Rest day. At least two days every week are Rest days. That’s the point.
It’s for fun. Pokies run on a random number generator, so no planet, number or day changes what a spin pays. What the stars can do is give you a nudge to plan your week, set a budget and take proper breaks.

How Lucky Days works
- We read the sky. Planet positions come from an astronomy ephemeris, the same kind of maths observatories use, worked out for Sydney time.
- We compare it with your sign. The Moon changes sign every two or three days. When it sits in a sign that gets on with yours, the day leans Play. When it’s at a hard angle, the day leans Rest.
- Rules, not hunches. A fixed rule decides every verdict, with at least two Rest days and no more than three Play days in any week. The words around them are written to explain the sky, never to promise anything.
What Play, Light play and Rest days mean
- Play day: a day that suits relaxed entertainment, if you feel like it. Budget set before you start, a finish time, free demos if you just want a spin.
- Light play: a short session or nothing at all. Good days for errands and catching up.
- Rest day: leave the pokies alone. Go for a walk, watch the footy, cook something slow, ring a mate.
A Play day is never a day you’re more likely to win. Every spin is an independent random result, whatever the Moon is doing.
Big sky events coming up
- Mercury retrograde runs from Saturday 24 October to Saturday 14 November 2026 (Sydney time), in Scorpio, with Venus retrograde alongside until 14 November.
- The full moon in Taurus lands on Monday 26 October at 3:12 pm. Every full and new moon for 2026 and 2027 is on our moon calendar.
- Lunar New Year is Saturday 6 February 2027, the start of the Year of the Goat. Find your Chinese zodiac animal.

Questions people ask
What is BigRed Lucky Days?
A free weekly astrology plan for each star sign. Every Sunday we mark the next seven days as Play, Light play or Rest days, based on where the Moon and planets are relative to your sign. It’s entertainment, with at least two Rest days built into every week.
Can astrology help me win on the pokies?
No. Pokies use a random number generator, and each spin is independent of the last one and of the sky. Use Lucky Days to plan your week and your breaks, play only with money you can afford to lose, and call Gambling Help Online on 1800 858 858 if it stops being fun.
How are the Play and Rest days worked out?
From real planet positions for each day at noon in Sydney. The main factor is the Moon’s sign compared with yours. A fixed rule turns that into verdicts, with a minimum of two Rest days and a maximum of three Play days each week.
When is the weekly plan updated?
Every Sunday morning, Sydney time. Each sign page shows the dates the current week covers.
Is it really free?
Yes. The sign pages, birth chart calculator, lucky numbers and compatibility check are free with no sign-up. If you join BigRed Members, also free, you’ll be first in line for personal plans built from your own chart.
Do you store my birth details?
No. The birth chart calculator and the quiz run in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us. See our privacy policy.
