The lucky numbers for today are listed below for all 12 star signs, with three numbers and a colour for each. We calculate them from today’s date and your sign, so they change every day and stay the same for everyone with your sign. They are a bit of fun and a conversation starter. They have no connection to any real-world outcome, and they cannot influence a pokie.

Lucky numbers today
Worked out for fun from today’s date and each sign. Same numbers for everyone with your sign. They can’t change a pokie’s result.
How we pick the daily numbers
We use a fixed formula. It takes today’s date and your star sign and turns them into three numbers and a colour. Nothing is random, and nothing is predicted. If you check twice on the same day you get the same answer, and so does every other person with your sign.
That is honest about what these numbers are: a tidy way to play with dates and signs. They are not drawn from the stars, a forecast, or anything that knows what will happen. Think of them as a daily nickname for your sign.
A quick word on numerology
Numerology is the older habit behind a lot of lucky number lists. A common trick is to add up the digits of a date until you reach a single digit, so 24 October 2026 becomes 2 + 4 + 1 + 0 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 17, then 1 + 7 = 8. Some people call that the number of the day. Our formula is different, since it also uses your sign, but the idea is similar: take something fixed, such as a date, and turn it into a small number you can enjoy.
Whatever method you use, the number is a label. Nothing in the calendar or the stars puts weight behind it.
Traditional lucky numbers for each sign
Western numerology folklore links each sign with a few favourite numbers, usually tied to the sign’s ruling planet. Lists vary between books and websites, so this table follows the commonly published picks.
| Sign | Traditional lucky numbers |
|---|---|
| Aries | 1, 9 |
| Taurus | 2, 6 |
| Gemini | 3, 5 |
| Cancer | 2, 7 |
| Leo | 1, 3 |
| Virgo | 5, 6 |
| Libra | 6, 7 |
| Scorpio | 4, 9 |
| Sagittarius | 3, 9 |
| Capricorn | 4, 8 |
| Aquarius | 4, 7 |
| Pisces | 3, 7 |
Many people also lean on their birthday, a house number or a footy jersey number. Those personal numbers are just as lucky as any in the table, which is to say not at all in a literal sense, but they can make a day feel a bit more yours.
Lucky numbers in Chinese tradition
In Chinese tradition, 8 is the great lucky number because it sounds like the word for prosperity. 6 is linked with smooth progress, and 9 with long life. 4 is avoided, as it sounds like the word for death. You can read more about numbers, colours and the 12 animals on our Lunar New Year page, including what folklore says about the Year of the Goat in 2027.
Why numbers can’t influence a pokie
This part matters more than any table. A pokie uses a random number generator (RNG). Each time you press spin, the game produces a fresh, independent result. It does not know what you chose, what the date is, or what happened on the last spin.
That means no number, colour or sign changes your result. It also means no machine is owed a payout after a quiet spell, and no machine is running better because it just paid out. Past spins have no memory, and a game that has not paid for ages is exactly as likely to pay on the next spin as it was on the first. If a number feels lucky, that is a nice feeling, and it is also all it is.

Ways to have fun with your numbers
Lucky numbers suit a game with friends and family. Compare your three numbers with a mate, or use them to pick a door number at a footy raffle or a favourite seat at the pub trivia night. Some people write theirs in a notebook and see how the day goes, which is a harmless way to notice that most days are ordinary whatever the number says.
You can also pair the numbers with your sign page. Each sign has its own weekly page under Lucky Days, with a rundown of the week and which days suit rest.
Lucky colours by element
Astrology groups colours by element, and the daily colour on this page follows the same idea. Traditionally:
- Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): red, orange and gold.
- Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): green, brown and cream.
- Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): yellow, light blue and white.
- Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): deep blue, sea green and silver.
Wear the colour if you like it. It will not change your day, but it might cheer you up.
Questions people ask
What are the lucky numbers for today?
Today’s three numbers and colour for each sign are in the tool near the start of this page. They come from a fixed formula using today’s date and your sign, so they change daily and are the same for everyone with your sign.
How are the daily lucky numbers calculated?
We run today’s date and your sign through a set formula that gives three numbers and a colour. It is not a prediction. It is for fun, and it will give the same result every time on the same day.
Can lucky numbers help me win on the pokies?
No. Pokies use a random number generator, so each spin is independent. No number, colour or date changes the result. If you play, set a budget, play for entertainment, and call Gambling Help Online on 1800 858 858 if it isn’t fun any more.
What is the luckiest number in Chinese culture?
The number 8 is considered the luckiest in Chinese tradition because it sounds like the word for prosperity. 6 and 9 also have positive meanings, while 4 is generally avoided. These are word-sound associations from folklore.
Do the lucky numbers in the table differ from the daily ones?
Yes. The table shows traditional numbers linked with each sign in Western numerology folklore, and they stay the same. The daily numbers change with the date and come from our own formula.
Why do some people think certain numbers are lucky?
Usually it comes from culture, language and personal memory: a birthday, a sport jersey, a word that sounds like another word. Humans like patterns. A number can feel lucky without it having any effect on events.
